Endorsements for David Boyd

Paul Gaarenstroom's Endorsement
My name is Paul Gaarenstroom I’m currently on the Board of Director’s in La Cresta holding both Secretary & Treasury positions. Today I’m endorsing both Roy Paulson & David Boyd for the Board of Director’s on the LCPOA.
Both these gentlemen have La Cresta’s best interest at heart. They love our community, and both are deeply seated in maintaining La Cresta as the community it was meant to be since 1969.
Roy and David are both very active in the equestrian community of La Cresta and understand that our trails are the gateway to hundreds of miles of trails throughout the plateau and beyond. No other community I know of has that to boast about. Roy and David both strongly support keeping our trails alive and well as not only the life blood of our community, but also as an important part of our property values. Roy Paulson, current LCPOA President, has unanimously voted yes on all trails issues which further underscores his commitment to this valuable resource.
Roy brings forty years of strong business leadership to the LCPOA and I have first hand witnessed the calm demeaner this man has in the face of what some would call crazy behavior from others directed at him personally.
David Boyd brings over 25 years of dedication and service to the Fire Department as both a fire captain, a paramedic and an educator. Running to and not away from a problem is in David’s blood. We need someone with David's level of expertise and dedication to develop and implement solutions to make our community a safer place for our members and our animals alike.
These two men bring both common sense and a feeling of professionalism to our community.
This is a very important vote this year. Please, exercise your voice and get out to vote early.

To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter as a testament of David Boyd’s knowledge, strength, character and other abilities that are necessary in leading the La Cresta Homeowners Association.
David and I worked together at the Bear Creek Master Association from 2012-2017. I was the General Manager for the Association and David was a Board member upon my arrival. David proved to be very helpful to me upon my initial days, and I quickly learned what an asset he was to the association. Based on our initial meeting, I knew that at some point he would advance his role on the Board of Directors. Within the next year, David assumed the role of Board President and through his strong leadership we worked diligently together to deal with very complicated issues.
While dealing with lawsuits, the Bankruptcy of the Bear Creek Golf Course and an unexpected $3 million dollar repair issue with the Storm Drains, David remained steadfast in his leadership to guide me and the Board of Directors to meet those challenges and managed to continue improving the grounds of the Community by upgrading Tennis and Bocce Courts, and many other necessary Capital Improvements. Together we dealt with many unexpected challenges and as a General Manager in our industry I would not have wanted anyone else by my side during that time. When I began my tenor at Bear Creek, the Reserves were very underfunded, and David slowly but surely built the Reserves back to 85% funding by 2017. We worked diligently to make some of the hard decisions that were sometimes not popular but needed to be done for the bests interest of the Community. David’s leadership was always about what was best for all with all the decisions he made. There was never any question where David stood on the issues in the community, although he listened to everyone from their individual perspectives.
As any Manager can attest, the position of General Manager can be one filled with high stress trying to meet expectations of all, and David stood by me during that period in my career and was steadfast with assisting me with whatever I needed to complete the impossible tasks of the job. As I am sure you all know, being a volunteer Board member is a thankless job at times. David and his passion for his community led him to prevail over all challenges he faced, even challenges he faced in his personal life, he continued being strong, diligent and a leader for his community. As a manager over 30 years, I can honestly say he is the best Board member I have ever had the pleasure of serving with.
If you are fortunate to have David represent your best interests in your association, I can only predict he will represent you in the same diligent matter I have been fortunate to witness over the years. A strong and honest Character in a person is hard to find these days. When you find one, hold onto them. Follow them and let them prove their worth!
I wish you well with your association.
Sincerely,
Linda Alexander

Carla Marvin's Endorsement
David Boyd has been a friend to the community since 2020, and he has been my friend since 2021. Dave has been an extremely caring and capable supporter of the La Cresta lifestyle and community from the time he discovered La Cresta and began boarding his horses here on the plateau. He has worked tirelessly on various committees and has been a very vocal supporter of the equestrian lifestyle which we all enjoy. Dave has also been a true friend as I have struggled with health issues that forced me from participating on the Board in 2024.
It is the flavor of our community, embracing the rural feeling of home through the many activities we enjoy and want to protect. Men and women’s lunch club meetings, gourmet dinner clubs, wine and cheese gatherings, potluck dinners, equestrian rides and lunches, barn dances, Halloween Trunk or Treat, our committees protecting and enhancing our roadways, our recreational trails and fire safety, holiday decorating, 4th of July Parade and celebrations, each highlight our paradise.
We all moved to La Cresta to enjoy the magnificence of the plateau, while preserving our way of life and the environment. I am casting my votes this fall for Roy Paulson and David Boyd, neighbors, and fellow caring humans. I know in my heart they will continue to use their knowledge, experience, and common sense to protect La Cresta from the various pressures and special interests that often divert our attention from what really matters. I am voting for Roy Paulson and David Boyd to promote Peace in our community while showing respect for each of our neighbors and protecting the beauty of the plateau.

Resident Endorsement of David Boyd
Former Board President, Bear Creek Master Association and Great Neighbor
I am proud to endorse David Boyd, who served with distinction on the Bear Creek Master Association Board of Directors for six years, including as Board President. His leadership and commitment to the community produced tangible, lasting results.
When David joined the board, the association’s reserves were critically underfunded—just 25% funded, with a little over $400,000 on hand. That amount barely covered a minor emergency. Through disciplined fiscal management and responsible oversight, David and the board renegotiated vendor contracts, saving the community thousands of dollars.
Over the course of his six-year tenure, David led a full-scale rejuvenation of the Bear Creek Community Center, overseeing major improvements across five key areas:
• The Pool Area: Complete renovation including resurfacing the pool, replacing the decking, upgrading fencing, and purchasing new pool furniture.
• Bocce Courts: Full replacement of the courts, decking, and furnishings.
• Tennis Courts: Renovation of seven courts, including new fencing, windscreens, court surfacing, and updated clay.
• Tot Lot: Brought up to modern safety and ADA compliance standards.
• Fitness Center: Entire gym was remodeled and outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
In addition, he saw the need and remodeled an open space behind the fitness center into an amazing outdoor living space for the community. A roof, reversible screens, chairs, couches, fire pits, and warmers. This space was highly received by the members, and now, one of the most used spaces at the Community Center.
David also spearheaded a comprehensive investigation into a major storm drain issue that had long affected the community. After thorough research and financial analysis revealed a projected cost of over $3 million, he led the development of a strategic plan to address the problem. His goal: to minimize or prevent costly special assessments and reduce the financial impact on residents.
Additionally, David demonstrated steady leadership in legal matters, minimizing lawsuits and successfully prevailing in all legal disputes. Most notably, he played a pivotal role during the Bear Creek Golf Course bankruptcy, protecting the property values of the community during a highly vulnerable time.
When David completed his service, the Bear Creek reserves stood at 85% funded—$1.45 million, a remarkable transformation from where they began.
David Boyd’s leadership was defined by accountability, progress, and results. I strongly endorse him for any HOA or POA board position he seeks. Any community would be fortunate to have his experience and dedication working on their behalf.

Gary Mineo's Endorsement
My name is Gary P. Mineo, who served on the 5-person Bear Creek MasterAssociation Board of Directors from 2011 to 2017, culminating in the role of President in the last year of my service. For most of those years, I served along side David Boyd, who often took THE leadership role in a number of challenging issues facing our community. Under his stewardship, we were able to tackle a number of hurdles in maintaining the elevated standards expected by the nearly 2,000 residents, while still being fiscally responsible. Nearly 10 years later, the Bear Creek community is still enjoying the improvements implemented during David’s tenure, such as the tennis courts renovation, the Bocce courts refurbishment, our pool area renovation, and our upgraded Gym fitness equipment.
However, the Board’s most important accomplishments under David’s governance were:
• Steering the community through the challenges of the Golf Course bankruptcy which could have resulted in the course going from private to public. This would have dramatically lowered the property values for all of the residents. Legal expenses were wisely spent to develop a strategy to protect the property values of Bear Creek.
• Addressing the community’s storm drain responsibility in a methodical and financially responsible fashion, and developing a plan of action to minimize a potentially major safety liability.
As a 26-year resident of Bear Creek, I continue to reap the benefits of David’s leadership and unwavering contribution to the community, and would expect no less in his addressing issues facing La Cresta. I can wholeheartedly endorse David Boyd.
Regards,
Gary P. Mineo
